Description
Womb Chair and OttomanÂ
Originally designed in 1948, Eero Saarinen’s Womb Chair and ottoman was the result of a request from mid-century design pioneer Florence Knoll for “a chair that was like a basket full of pillows”. Saarinen sought to design a comfortable chair which would allow several sitting positions rather than one rigid one position.
The chair’s low, wide seating position and cocooning arms make it extremely comfortable and cosy whilst allowing you to spread out in any direction. Saarinen’s laid-back approach to design and attention to detail makes the chair a real must for anyone serious about furniture, design and comfort.
The Womb Chair is crafted from a moulded fibreglass shell which allows for the chair’s unique shape to be achieved. A stainless steel frame supports the chair & ottoman whilst soft foam cushions adorned with a luxuriously soft cashmere upholstery add the final touch.
